Day 14

 Acquired

 Discarded

As some of you might know I'm going on a trip tomorrow. Five days in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Bonn. Now you might think this will mean a break in the daily posts here on this blog. But I won't let something small like a trip stop me from keeping this project going. Yoy see I'm allowed to cheat a little. I actually started drawing my daily consumption some time before I started this blog. This was to build up a stock of days with drawings in case I got ill, was going on a trip or something else was stopping me from drawing daily. This way I will be able to keep the project going and be finished with the 60 days in time for the deadline of this unit. The images won't show exactly what I did buy and throw away the same day as I post them on my blog. But this blog will still be showing my daily consuption over an almost continuous period of 60 days with all the days in the right order. This won't make much difference for those who follow this project but I still want to explain myself. I would feel like I was cheating if I didn't.

Day 13

 Acquired

 Discarded

I'm very sorry for the slight delay in Saturday's post. I meant to do it yesterday. But I forgot it while I was trying to pack for my trip to Germany and at the same time trying to rest to get my strange headache to go away. Excuses, excuses.
So today I will be posting my purchases and rubbish from two days (but in two separate posts).

Day 12

Discarded

My original idea was to draw everything I buy. But then I realised that there are days like this one when I don't get anything new. So I decided to change the project so that it would involv everything I throw away too. Creating a little more work for me. But allowing me to do daily updates. And trash is quite an essential part of consumption.

Day 11

 Acquired

Discarded

Just to clarify a few things for persons who might be wondering why the objects aquired and those that are thrown away don't match perfectly. I have two persons that I share this house with. So naturally they put some of my trash in the bin just as I end up cleaning up their mess from time to time. And as I said I'm documenting everything I physically put into a waste bin or recycling bin myself.
Another thing that will make it difficult to be perfectly accurate every day is my memory. It is surprising how hard it can be to keep track of everything you throw away when it is a habit and you do it almost unconsciously.

Day 10

Discarded

As I have now gotten the project going and will start telling people about it I should maybe explainin a few things about what it is that I am doing.
This is an art project that I am doing as a part of the University course I am studying right now. The basic rules that I have set up for myself are to draw everything I acquire and everything I discard each day. Practically this means that I must draw everything I buy, everything I find, everything that is given to me and everything I put into a recycling bin or trash bin at home, at uni or in town (I think I want to include everything I unintentionally lose too, but I am not a person who loses things very often so I am not sure it will make a big difference if it is included or not). Of course I have to draw the line somewhere since it would be impossible to depict literally everything I gain and cast away. It is oubvious but I am still going to tell you that I won't count anything that isn't a physical object or anything that isn't big enough (e. g. dust, breadcrumbs).

Finally got the blog header done. Now this is slowly starting to look like I want it to.
